Default Brake wear Q:

My brakes have worn down my rotors where the rotors now have ridges or peaks/valleys as opposed to wearing in smooth. I've brought this up to me dealer every time it's in, but it just doesn't seem right. If I have to replace my pads, the contact area will be limited to those parts of the new pad that touch the "peaks," that is until the pads wear down to match the contours of the rotors.

Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this?

Default It's ok. Normal. The pads, especially OEMs, are going to set grooves...

as they wear. It's going to show up on the rotor. I asked about the same deal, because I have some rotor wear as well, but with 30mm we have some pretty beefy rotors.

The grooves are normal. When you put new pads on, the bedding process should allow for full pad seating.

Thanks Wes. I'm still gonna have them look at them one more time, since they just started squealing
