plus the S4 will leave that thing in the dust on the track (or anywhere there are corners). I'm sure if we drove one there would be no comparison. It's like comparing an A4 3.2 to an S4 or a 330 to an M3.
(those S4 skid pad numbers's were with the crappy stock Contis. They would be much better with a good tire)

S4 was tested by them at 0-120 in 19.5 seconds and a 13.7 qm at 102mph. Very similar. That's a manual tranny S4 as well. A TIP S4 would be a goner. Wonder what will happen if they put a manual in the Lexus? The S4 has 11.3 lb/hp impeding it but loses more loss to the drivtrain and the IS350 has 11.8 lb/hp impeding it with less drivetrain loss possibly although the auto tranny may not be helping.
I'm a fan of Audi too, but I won't say it's because of power or reliability at all.
cheers! Mike

Broken-in S4 is probably just as fast, V8 will probably pull at triple digit speeds, the larger engine in the Lexus does not come with AWD and stick. Sure its fast, but probably as exciting as driving a kitchen appliance, and the styling is typical Toyota ambiguous and uninspired. For the older people in the crowd.

The acceleration tests were done with a manual tranny S4 rather than TIP and even those were close with the IS350 actually having a higher trap speed.
On the track the IS350 weighs in at 237lbs lighter than the S4 and the .02g diff in skidpad was with the stability control engaged on the IS350, which I would assume anyone who tracked their car would find a workaround whether it be disabling via software or pulling a fuse. The luxus also had on some Dunlop Sport Maxx tires. So both the S4 and IS350 were far from running PS2 or S03.
Good comparison that was never probably intended to be a comparison with the IS350 really supposed to be competing with the lower performance A4. I think it would be a pretty matched and entertaining track event to see between the S4 and IS350 and I'm not convinced there would be a clear cut winner either.
cheers! Mike
