Calling all ADR V1 Interface Owners...
I'm debating between the VoodooTec Stealth V1 Display (LI-S4) or the ADR...
I read on one of the LI-S4 install write ups that someone was disappointed with the ADR...
Anyone care to share any insight on the displays?
Thanks in advance...

I have the ADR and love it...
in fact I had to disconnect it a few weeks ago since my radio refuses to eject the CDs and I was a little concerned that Audi would have blamed the extra wires on the back of the radio. Anyway, it is making me crazy having to look up at the V1 when I hear the tone (I took out the remote display when I added the ADR). Not sure what kind of concerns others have had but I would be happy to comment on any you have heard.
If you are curious, see my install at:<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4b6/msgs/376155.phtml">link to install</a></li></ul>

I love my ADR . . . with ONE exception . . .
The "automute" function is kinda flawed, IMO (to recap, you can set a speed where, if you are traveling less than set speed, your V1 will "automute" itself - great when you are sitting at a traffic light so you don't have to listen to your V1). Here's the flawed scenario:
1. You pull up to a stop light.
2. A cop up ahead has his radar going, but since your V1 is automuted, you don't hear a thing
3. Light turns green, you take off . . .
4. Even though your speed now EXCEEDS the automute speed, your V1 stays muted UNTIL the alert has cleared and a new alert is found
5. BAM - you get pulled over b/c you weren't alerted of the radar threat mentioned above.
To get around this, you CAN disable the automute function, but it's SO nice a function - they just need to rethink the intelligence, IMO to account for the situation I described above.
I'd still choose the PERFECT integration over hacking up a piece of my dash to retrofit a remote display.

voodoogheytec FTW
mikes work is awesome and I lubs mine. Look through the pic poster at the B6S4 install and you will see how simple it is to instal and stock it looks (sorry for the mess in the pics...it was winter and my car hadn't been cleaned in a while).
And the fact you can put the mute button anywhere is the clincher...I have mine on the back end of the shift boot.

your install pictures should help alot...
I've got just a few questions...
after looking through <a href="http://www.nsxjr.com/docs/ADRV1.pdf">this write up</a> on nsxjr's website, I see it mentions for muting the V1 to press the Volume up and down buttons on the steering wheel...
I have the sport wheel... Does this installation allow for a remote mute switch located somewhere else? Like on the LI-S4 display does? Unfortunately I'm a TIP so mounting in the shift boot is out for me... Oh, can you turn the automute function off?
When you purchased the ADR, did it come with install instructions?
If I do end up going this route, I will take as many pictures as possible... Thanks for the response SOASOAS
thanks again...

I have AutoMute off on mine so that isn't a big deal for me...
although if it did actually reset after you got rolling again I might use it. In my enviropnment, the AutoMute isn't a big deal. As far as the remote switch, I don't recall if you can use that with the ADR or not, I'll look back through my install notes and see if it says anything. I just use the mute button on the V1 itself but again a remote mute would be nice but at the time it wasn't all that big a deal to me.
As far as directions, they were a little weak and I did have a few questions that I needed answered but those were all handled by e-mail in a half day or less. I got mine pretty early in the development so hopefully the installation lessons learned have been incorporated in the instructions.

I saw your write up somewhere, that is clean and I like the OEM mute button
I think I posted in your thread already saying I would have opted for the "Funk" button as mute but, I think you said they were never produced for a B6...
Anyway, I'm not knocking the LI-S4 display AT ALL, It looks so damn clean, have seen it on many cars... I was just checking out other options...
I'm still split between the two... Right now, I have my concealed display in the ashtray... <a href="http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=194107">my attempt at a DIY for how I did it</a>
