Claim they are the same performance numbers they got with the current M3. This compares to 5.1/13.3 for the S4. If and when there is a Dinan ECU flash,(which retains the factory warranty)these numbers will get even better! The S4s will have a tough time keeping up. PLUS, the 40-70 mph times of the 335i are supposed to be significantly better than the M3 due to the turbo. Not posting this to put down the S4(which I love). Only trying to show that BMW would appear to hold a performance edge in the dry. AND the 335i is now the direct competitor to the S4 not the M3 which will compete against the RS4. Also note that the BMW will cost about $5k LESS than an S4, plus the turbo engine will also be available in the 4 door 3 series sedan. Not sure when it will make it into the AWD 335ix model, but that probably will not be that far off. As a final blow, 29-30 mpg highway/ 20-21 mpg city non AWD. It looks to me that Audi has some serious competition here. Another factor to consider is that since BMWs seem to hold their value better than Audis, lease rates will be better and car will hold its value better than our Audis have. All you BMW haters, let the flaming begin! I still love my S4 but it does have some aspects that could be improved! B6/B7s S4s have been virtually the same car for 4 model years.

that car is a tempting proposition to me...and another thing (rant inside)
the real kick in the pants to audi is that the new M3's price is "set" at 53 grand (say fully loaded mid 60s) under cutting the rs4 by quite a bit, and god knows the rates are going to be better.
I bought the s4 because it was the car that pulled at my heart strings for years, It was somthing different. Everyone and their mom around here seems to own an M3 and it looks like thats going to be the case with this new one and the 335. The "different" factor is becoming harder and harder to argue with the Bavarians pulling numbers like these. Audi has until 2008 to pull somthing magnificent out of their *** before i jump ship.

I believe 5.4 0-60, 13.4 1/4 for the S, as far as the AWD goes i believe
it is one year out(minimum). That car may just have brought the S4 down out of M3 territory. come on audi bring back snails!!

I have just one thing to say...
Wait until the B8 comes out.
First, it's going to be a revolutionary car for Audi.
Second, they do have a prototype V6 twin turbo and a prototype supercharged V6 working so maybe they will be forced to go back to a blown v6 because of BMW.
Third, if they don't pony for the B8, they are stupid.

becaauuuuuse people are very likley to cross shop these two cars...
there is really no loss in rear leg room compared to the s4, and the weight savings in the coupe version is only 22lbs less then the 3 series sedan. the people that are looking for an s4/m3/335/rs4 are looking for essentially the same thing a sporty practical and stylish automobile. each one has differnt qualities it brings to the table, thats how they compete.

Some sort of BMW bias??? BMW.com has it 5.3 manual and 5.5 auto...
And do you think Audi really cares about how fast a car can go straight? I know if I did I would be in a 'stang or 'vette, not an S4. The S4 will destroy the BMW on the track... My bro is getting one in May, can't wait to show him...
