Car fax report

Car fax report
How do accidents get reported on a car fax report? I ask because I recently saw a car fax report on my A4 that I traded in, but the car fax report was clean (i.e. no accidents). But I know for sure that I was in an accident with it.

carfax is a big waste of time... ive bought 3 cars that had a clean record, but had gotten in huge
wrecks... the biggest waste of time/money. Unless the guy reported the accident (i dont know why anyone in the right mind would) then it is unknown...

I have a very good friend of mine that works for them and they pull records from not only dmv but...
body shops (participating). They're the most reliable source however, not every shop in america pays for their service. By getting a carfax report you get piece of mind plus they do have some type of buyback which you need to read up on. If you have any more serious questions i'd more than happy to ask him. Personally, I think it should be mandatory that all dealers and body repair shops should have this service. Its really a crime that some people have no idea what their previous owner put their car through. And, its pretty easy to tell if a car has been in an accident. Just look at the fender bolts under the hood. If they are painted perfectly and/or show signs of being unscrewed than its a new fender. Run your finger along the edges of the doors, hood, trunk. Also, look for the vin tags on each of the doors, hood, trunk. Each one should have the same looking tag, some are stickers some are plates but, they should all match. Open the doors and look for paint lines and look at the fender wells, they often are overlooked and/or look newer than others. New headlights should also be a dead give away. Am I rambling??? yes : ) I spent a little time at car auctions and picked up a few things.
