Car screaming when cold...
I know we have covered the fact that the car makes noise when it is just started in the cold. I left my car at the airport for a day in the cold. When started, it made the same noises it usually does. When I drove off it started to scream a loud high pitch screeching noise. It occurred under light throttle at 2000 rpm. It sounded just like a turbo just before it fails. I thought I broke it. I pulled the car over and let it warm up for a couple of minutes. It went away.
Any thoughts?

Mine does this too...
I took it in to the Dealer to do the TSB. They said it did not need anything done and it was the Oil Pump making that sound. I even provided them with a copy of the TSB. I am glad they told me their Top Tech worked on my car!!
What do I do now?

Demand they do the TSB!!! It will go away.
I bought my car in October 2004 and put up with that awful, embarassing noise for over a year. I had the TSB (Serpentine Belt - Pretensioner) done and it went away immediately. There are plenty of other S4 owners on this board with the same story. I gave my dealer the TSB number and they looked it up for me. Problem solved. I would go to a different dealer if they ever denied fixing a TSB when I asked.

Definitely the serpentine belt TSB. Schedule a service appointment, but first
talk to the service rep. Make sure they have the needed parts(he can look up the TSB or I can E mail you a copy, or check Machtigs sig for it). Otherwise, you will have to bring it back for a second appointment after they order the parts!
