no worries about the 'knock'.... ;-)
I just figure, if I'm going to track the car and want less brake dust on the street anyway, why not just do the brake mods now.
Sure, I figure I can do a one day NASA-HPDE event stock, but it won't hamper my learning curve having a better brake set up.
I know Karts and a B6 S4 are two different beasts, but at least I know the ins-outs of proper line, entrance-apex-exit, etc....
Having a better brake set up will allow me to be more precise in my learning, no ?
thanks to all for thier imput by the way...

I don't recommend the Bobcats on the track.
I know for sure that they cannot take VIR. The stock pads couldn't take it. The Bobcats can in terms of heat tolerance, but don't have the grip/fade resistance stopping consistently from 130+.
I'd recommend xp8's first. Then move to xp9's.
FWIW, I'm using XP10's.

I'd get some XP8's over the bobcats. The bobcat is a pretty aggressive street pad, but not ....
torque is generated to stop this behemoth several times from 130+. I know. They get hot, and don't lose brake torque completely, but there is simply not enough brake torque for road course events, unless they are short.
I'd get a set of xp8's. They should last about 2 events.

Best bet? Get bobcats and xp8's. It takes about 5-10 minutes per side to swap the pads.
Be careful, cause they get HOT!
But the bobcats are perfect for the street. Brake torque is limited however. So when your on the track and going to have some serious speed, you don't want to compromise on the brake pad compound. Go xp8's. Especially since you have the frozen rotors.

I include
- gathering the tools and beer
- jacking the car up (using one jack)
- removing the wheels
- removing the calipers
- cleaning the brake components
- inspecting the suspension and brake system
- prepping the pads
- reinstalling everything
- putting everthing away
- clean up (including myself and the tools)
- Testing the brakes
- a final beer
Over the years I've always measured the time from the moment I walk into the garage to the time I return to whatever else I need to do.

LOL, sounds good. Love the break-down, how about some time units? ;-P
Just kidding!!
Beer is ALWAYS fun, but not highly recommended when changing pads in the paddock. :-D
I'd say it's more like 30 minutes given that I usually stop after one side and find SOMETHING to waste 15 minutes on.

Know what you mean cause 1st day @ T-hill I had problems & adjusted driving thereafter.
I had read about brake fade and thought people were over reacting with their brake upgrades as I thought ours were just fine...until my pedal went to the floor as I entered turn 1 @ 115.
