Default Is Carmax asking too much for a 2004 S4 w/20k miles?

Hi everyone,

I hate to be "that guy" whose first post is "is this a good deal" but I'm looking around at used S4 prices and they seem to be all over the map.

Carmax in Laurel has a black 2004 S4 manual with 20,300 miles on it for $28,998. It appears to be fairly loaded, having the Premium package, BOSE upgraded sound, and heated seats.

Edmunds says this car should be in the low $27k range. Kelly Blue Book (which I think is usually a load of crap, says $30,935). Anecdotally, I recently read that Manheim is seeing S4 wholesale prices drop due to gas prices.

I drove the car and it was responsive, tight, and not a rattle or jiggle anywhere.

I realize that it's up to me but I was curious based upon the buying experiences of other people should I jump on a very-low mileage S4 or wait and get a much better deal on a car with 15-20k more miles?

I'm holding out for an S4. I just love Audis and want the best car I can find for the money.

Any advice or opinion is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.<ul><li><a href="http://tinyurl.com/5ozzzn">Link to Carmax Ad</a></li></ul>

Default Well I work for them so I can give you the down low...

I ran the history report and it was a one owner, so that's nothing to worry about.
CarMax has everything set up on miles, if it has low miles it will usually be worth more. Since it is considered a luxury car, it can not exceed 10k a year or the price is reduced at a rapid level.
I bought mine with 30k on it and it was worth it to have the extra mile on there to reduce the price. These cars are built so well it really doesn't matter if it has a little extra miles on it.

If you have any more questions shoot me an email.

Hahaha, I just noticed that! Maybe the original owner took it off and CarMax put one back on on the wrong side. CarFax says it's clean. Thanks for pointing that out

Default Re: Too high IMHO. I picked up a 2004 with 28k miles for $29k a year ago, from an Audi dealer, CPO.

That's what I was thinking too in terms of price. I think the low mileage really seduced me. I'll keep an eye on it but there aren't many 20-30k mile CPO S4s out there in the 27-28k range right now. Thanks for replying. I appreciate it.

Default Even if it is totaled... sometimes carfax won't report.

This case, carfax was clean. AutoCheck showed the issue.

never trust either of those reporting sites 100%<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/other/msgs/8305943.phtml">https://forums.audiworld.com/other/msgs/8305943.phtml</a</li></ul>

Default How about a 2005?

Check the ad in my sig. Has 45,000 miles but comes with a transferable Audi CPO.

Keep in mind, despite low miles, the car is coming off the factory warranty if it hasn't already...

Thanks for replying but I'm looking for Moro Blue, Black. Silver, White, or Dolphin Grey. Good luck with the sale!
