Catback/Downpipes

I'm new to the site and just got an 05 s4 3 weeks ago. I am paying a lot of attention to these threads and was wondering if anyone could tell me what the differences were between catbacks and downpipes etc...

section of the exhaust that starts at the exhaust manifold and goes to the mufflers. It containes the catalytic converters and O2's. The Cat Back is the rest of the exhaust containing the mufflers and resonators and attaches to the downpipes and is the part that has the tips attached to it

As they say though, it comes down to who has deeper pockets if something happens and they void your warranty.
