I searched the archives, and couldn't find an exact match.
Car was sitting for a week, I started the car and it sounded like less than eight cylinders were firing, and a solid CEL. I turned the car off by instinct, and started again just fine, but the CEL is on solid. The car seemed to drive fine, no throttle delays or loss of power so I drove it to work and back (only 10 miles each way). No problems since, except for the CEL.
Is it possible the misfire could be caused by the car sitting? and do I need a trip to the dealer or VAG to turn off the CEL? or is this just wishful thinking?
Thanks in advance, I am always impressed by the knowledgeable folks on this forum.

it should go off. If not, there is something still wrong, probably a coil pack. I've also had rodents chew through the MAF cable, may want to check it as it would still run but CEL would stay on.

The rodent thing is a possibility, the garage I park in is well underground.
How long until the CEL would clear itself?

I added half a quart and it started normally, nice and smooth.
I have a feeling the dealer put in dino oil instead of synth as I had asked for. I need to start changing the oil myself.
thanks for your help, I ended up cleaning out the snow filter, there was a ton of junk in there also, the MAF cable and sensor looked okay.
