Default TWELVE MILES PER GALLON...

...that is downright pathetic. Even with a chip and a constant lead foot and not one iota of freeway or highway driving, I don't think I could get less than about 14mpg in my 2.7T S4. And I'd probably get more like 16mpg (even with the lead foot). Hell, my 5000-lb. '86 Suburban got 10mpg in city driving, and I had two throttle positions in that thing: Wide open and off. One thing I liked about my current S4's 2.7T engine so much was that I only got about 1mpg worse gas mileage than I got with my 12v 2.8 engine in my previous A4, and that can probably be simply attributed to 500 pounds of extra weight.

Default It's the stop and go that kills mileage. My S4 does great when I can keep moving...

...looking at Audis other cars with the 4.2L V8, I don't think that the fuel economy for the new S4 will be that much worse than the old one.

Here's a comparison.

12mph average speed isn't city, it's parking lot.

Default Heh. My mileage is directly tied to my average speed, which is typically around 22-25 I think...

...damn traffic anyway.

Well, I really like the actual C5 body... BUT they are changing it in 2005 edition! (june 2004)

Cold engine too, meaning it runs rich as well.

Default Will have to wait for official #'s....

But if 12MPG's is indeed the best that the new S4 can do for City driving, then forget it!
I will be heading straight to my dealer to get my deposit back...which really sucks
