Yes it is not a direct comparison to the upcoming rs4, but some of the potential rs4 buyers may cross shop the AMG as well.
The CLK should be out as a 2007 model in the summer, or fall, and it packs up something like 480hp 6.3L v8. Without a doubt the performance numbers in the straight line will be brutal with that much horsepower, and the new 7 speed transmission. And as I recall CLK AMG is not a very heavy car. Price will most likely be around 72-75K.
Will anyone consider spending a bit more and get a CLK63 instead of the RS4? Without a doubt it will not handle as well as the rs4 in a track, but in straight line performance, and everyday drive i think CLK 63 will put up much better numbers than the rs4, and even the upcoming m3 (more than likely). MB has very good interior quality, and comfortable driving astethics, no manual transmission maybe a turn off, but with that much power in that car will be a head turner for sure.

last time I heard they had pretty much the worst of the German cars. I've sat in the S55 ($125k) and it still had plastic everywhere. It wasn't until I sat in the S600 ($130) that the S-class had leather. I love the CLS to death (was even considering buying one), but Audi's interior Vs Mercs is like night and day. Sure they might be getting better, but it's still not Audi level.

It does. And what about roof trim falling down on you while driving? Just a couple of the nightmares, I mean stories, I've heard from other people make your problem seem like nothing... Oh and I forget to mention there have been a few that have completely shut off while driving... So who has it worse now?

plus the back seat is essentially unusable, no AWD, interior not up to par, etc.
if all you care about is going fast in a straight line, get a Ford Mustang GT500 and save yourself about $40K.
