Default Comparison of Audi and BMW All Wheel Drive

Can anyone explain or point me to a good source for explaining the differences between the Audi and BMW all wheel drive systems? Salesman for each claim their version is superior (what s surprise). I live in the northeast and want to buy an all wheel drive car, probably either an Audi or a BMW.

Thanks very much.

Nissan/Infiniti's AWD system is supposed to be better than both of them.

Default No real answers, but...

buy whatever you like. The difference will me negligible as far as how good the AWD system works. Test drive and pick based on that. That being said, Audi has been doing AWD for a long time compared to BMW. Can't go wrong with Quattro IMO.

Default "Supposed to be" being the key words...

This "intelligent AWD" means more computers/electronics involved which usually means more potential problems.

Default The Evo8 and the STi have "better" AWD systems however they are not....

Good old fashioned engineering will never be beaten out by electronics..... at least not yet.

Quattro Qrtly. Spring 04 or Summer 04 issue had an excellant article on the differences in all wheel drive systems and explained Audi's Torsen Differential in laymans terms. Not sure which issue will check at home and repost.
