begins right at startup, increases in pitch when I blip the throttle. It used to happen occassionally, but went away fairly quickly after I drove a bit. Now it's almost constant...
Any ideas? TIA...

I started it up to go to the dealer, and the whirring stopped (of course). I get there, and the fluid is low. They asked if it was leaking, I said my garage is bone dry. They are concerned that the low level may have damaged the pump, so I have an appointment on the 25th to have it looked at.
But, on the way home, the car was as quiet as its ever been...so maybe all it needed was a drink.
Any thoughts? TIA...

the whirring sound only happens during start ups. once the car reaches temp, the fluid expands, thus no noise. dealer filled up my fluid but no need to replace.

check their fluid level today or tomorrow. It has been such a commonly reported problem.
