Default Curious - anyone *disable* X-band on their Valentine?

Most of my false alarms come from it, and I can't remember if I've *ever* seen a cop using x-band in the 4 years I've owned the V1.

A friend was driving my car the other day, and she slowed down on *every* beep. Rather than try to teach her the zen of V1 reading, I just disabled x-band. Boy the thing was quiet after that.

Default Most definitely. Also, the increased "sensitivity" option for the Ka isn't the actual sensor

becoming more sensitive, but just the "beeps" and number of filled "dots" showing a more extreme status on the radar. Basically, it allows you to take it more seriously, faster. A lot of people believe that you can actually increase the sensitivity of the KA band, but that's not what it does. Figured that may be another question of yours.

Default By disabling X-band, do you mean switching to advanced logic mode?

Or is there something else we can do that I'm missing?

Default No way - the local sheriff's dept. in my county still uses olde fashioned x-band a lot.

Yes it is a source of false signals from just about every door opener in sight, but I have learned the patterns of where to expect those false positives.

I have also seen where the local deputy squad cars also know about it and will hang out in a nice watching locations in the parking lots of strip malls with lots of such signals to disguise themselves.

Fortunately my V1 shows me the extra signals over what I know to be the noise backgrounds and I can spot them ))))

Good reasons for spending the extra $$$ over buying an Escort.....

Default Yea, it depends on your location. If you're out in the middle of butt-

**** nowhere, x-band is probably still used.

Default Yea, 99% of the time...your right.

But the great thing about my PASSPORT (shock!) is that I can see X and KA or K at the same time on the display.
