Default Day 4 with my car and I'm getting 10mpg...

...and I'm taking it easy! All city driving, though. Have you guys found that the mileage improves after the break-in period? Or, should I trade my lead foot in for a titanium foot?

Default Said b4 but .... in-city is teh suck 10-12 highway 18-20

my theory,

if it's gonna suck that bad, in city, I'm not shifting until 5k at least.

the low speed 1,2,3 gears guzzle gas.

but then that's the way it is.

it does improve after break in, but then in city will ALWAYS SUCK.

sorry, gas consumption, not the car's strong point.

Default I got that much at VIR, ain't it awesome?

J/K...I hope your not driving like I did at VIR with a brand new car. ;-)

Gas mileage does get better with time. Although I don't remember it being that low...

Default Wes, when were you at VIR? In April for the ACNA event?

I was there (maiden track event =) ), but don't recall any B6 S4 Avants. There was a black sedan in my run group though.....wicked fast car. The 2 modded Evos might have been a tad faster on the track, but that didn't stop 'em from spinning off the track.... ;P

Default I was there with CarGuys in August. I'll be there again in October.

JD, Allan and I all drove up there. All three of us got to ride around. Did you see the vids? They were insane! If not, we can give you the link to JD's monster-bandwidth-site and you can check them out. ;-)

Default just an AWOT term. stands for THE SUCK but in more dislexic terms.

just one of about a hundred AWOT which I guess should also explain which means "AudiWorldOffTopic"

the longer you are on the board the more of this you'll see

for example:

TPIWWAP = This Post Is Worthless Without A Picture.

MWW= Major work warning = **** or in AWOT speak
they call

****= **** so as to avoid filters and such when being watched by the "man"

ahhh there's sooo much to explain, but you get it.

Default I get about 18mpg mixed driving

I got the car last week, and already have 700 miles on it, and total mpg is 18.5

In completely city driving I get about 16-17mpg, with stop and go at the lights etc. In heavy traffic I get about 13-14mpg. These are the observations, on highway, in constant speeds 70mph I observed about 21.6 mpg max. These are the data I got from the computer.

In city driving I at this time do not push the car so hard, a couple of times at 5K rpm, nothing higher, but usually change the gear at 2500-3000 rpm, and 6th comes quick, and I always use 6th gear, it is amazing that car will pull without a problem from 40 to up in 6th, and will do so, fast. So I can recommend to use all gears, and shift earlier than usual, even if you are going 35-40 shift to 6th definitely.
