Yes this guy "raced" me. Here's the low down since he didn't go into detail. We both left the same parking lot. I was going on lunch from work and he was behind me leaving. I pulled into the highway which was 4 pm on Saturday and has a decent amount of traffic no where to really race around. He shot up the shoulder and merged further up we happened to get off at the same exit. Now my car was cold and I didn't shift past 5500rpm since it wasn't warmed up and my snow tires offer no good dry traction. He took off to head back onto the highway in the opposite direction. And I followed giving it some gas to mess around and having tc kick on in 1st and 2nd. Mind you I am behind him the whole way there is nowhere to race around. We then both merge onto the highway after he comes to a complete stop and punches it. I was at a complete stop and took off, tc kicks in cutting engine power due to snow tires in 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts. I am on his *** but again there is a lot of traffic. At one point we pull side to side but there is nowhere for either of us to go so I pull behind and then pull into the fast lane. When I front bumper is a little ahead of his rear he swerves into the same lane and I have to hit the brakes so I wasn't sent into the median. He then waits for an opening to merge into another lane to get smaller and by the time he pulls through I'm blocked by 2 cars with no where to go. I was always behind him and again not shifting past 5500 rpm since my engine was cold this all happened within 1 mile in traffic. It wasn't that there was open highway and we were side by side. I have beaten several B6 S4's before with no problem. I'll offer to race him for cash and put my pilot sports on if you're up to it chief. I never knew you could have your *** handed to you when you're behind someone the whole time on their tail.

Not much of a story in the first post. Still down for a true race for cash over here. I don't consider wiggling through traffic racing...

I go over and take a look at what the guys there have to say. It's not like I'm not used to the completely unprovoked comments that some moronic M3 owners give, but as usual the flaming started right away. I love the moron who says, "If I had an S4 I would drive it off a cliff." Real smart one there genius. And I love the picture of the Porsche that as far as I can tell you don't own. Anyway, I don't know if it really was a race or not, but it doesn't sound like it. I know how the S4 is just a "Heavy Pig" as someone else commented on that enlightening board, but even so, the S4 isn't that much slower. On the track the S4 in my opinion is much easier to drive and I do get better lap times in the S than I do the M. I am really hoping that some of the delighful people from the M3 board read this just so they can tell how much contempt I have for them and how embarassed I am to own 3 BMW's when I see asinine comments like the ones being spread all over that board. I do think some of the M3 owners on that board are nice and don't neccessarily think they are God's gift to the entire world. AMGTHIS actually sounds like he's not a jerk like most of them. Anyway, just my 2 cents after getting some good laughs on both boards, but mainly the M3 board.

I just wanted to straighten out the original post, which was BS. too good to be true made a kill story out of nothing. I am a down to earth person, car enthusiast, and appreciate all cars. I like the S4 and think it is an awesome car. I am offering too good to be true a real race if he wants to prove how badly he can kill me. The only reason he saw my plate and the back of my car was because we left the same lot and he shot up the shoulder when we merged into traffic. Otherwise his story makes no sense of how he was in front the whole time but was able to see by plate and Dinan badge on my trunk. I was a little heated how I had to defend a blown up story and am still waiting for a reply. Since you read the M3Forum you probably saw someone saw this "race" happen and said how much traffic there was and how it wasn't a race.

Default Guess I won't get a reply from too good to be true

Because your story was "too good to be true". I never knew tailing someone through traffic was a "race". You were very cocky and fast with your story but I haven't received a reply to my offer to race for $ since you can kill me so badly that you get board and have to slow down. SkeeemR4 as far as calling my car a POS, you're welcome to race for $ as well and we'll see what's up. I have nothing against S4s. I think they are nice cars, I just have problems with people who make **** up.

Hi, all...
I'm another member from m3forum...
I'm not going to take any sides to this, but I do want to talk about some of the comments that have been said about "us" in general.
Most of you seem to have an attitude that we are a bunch of "pretentious ******" who think that our car is "above God"...
I personally see the S4 and the M3 as very close in terms of every aspect. In my opinion the S is a little more practical (AWD and 4/5 doors) while the M is a little more hardcore... I personally chose the M because it is exactly what I am looking for (wolf in sheep's clothing coupe) but I respect the S4 just as much.
Both have been tested in direct competition numerous times, and the results that come to mind are that in a straight line from stop, the M is slightly faster, but around a medium track, the S is slightly faster. I would rate them both equal drivers' cars (aka bad driver in M would lose to good driver in S, and vice versa...)
I also want to mention something about attitude:
It was mentionned that our attitude was not "Acceptable", but I must say that such people are found on every forum. I have not read many of the posts here, but I am sure that there are people who claim that the S4 is by far the best car out there, and that competitors like the M3 and the C55AMG are just cheap competition that still lives in its past glory...
That is part of every forum, and I think that we just have to get past that. There are many people (on both these forums, and I'm sure many more) that don't own just the car they're appreciating (I know there are M3 owners who also own/ have owned an S4 or another Audi). My sister drives a lovely '02 1.8t A4 which I drive from time to time. I have to say, it is lovely to drive; the interior is amazing. It does not have a lot of punch, but then again it's no S or M...
Anyways, I just want to send in a good word from us here at M3forum.com ... and I just wanted to straighten a couple of things out...
Please feel free to come over to our forum and express your opinions.

Hope we can make a peace between audiforums and m3forum

Cheers

~Fabien
