Default All the approved oils are synthetic. Anyhow, there are NO dino 5W-40 that I'm aware of and...

there are definitely NO dino 5W-30's that will meet VW 502. Trust me. Only synthetics in the 5W and 0W range will meet 502. And there are no 0W dino's, either.

Whatever the case, you have to pay for the 10K oil change anyhow. So you have to bring your own oil.

Default Here's a simple solution: 1) go to autozone 2) get some Mobil1 0W-40 (not my 1st choice but....

it's easy to get and it's better than dino). 3) give it to your dealer and say, "Hi there Mr. dealer, put this here synthetic motor oil into my automobile, kindly sir". 4) Be happy and confident in the synthetic oil and drive away proudly. BTW, buy 11 qts. and bring 10 to the dealer and keep 1 in your car for top offs.

Default The dealer gets the same $ from AoA whether they use dino or synth. What do you think they are

going to use if AoA does not strictly require them to use synth? It is motivated by profit, pure and simple. And, IMO, no oil is OK for 10k intervals in these cars! AoA wants to sell you another Audi ASAP. They also say it's fine to use dino for 10k miles. I'm sure they have YOUR best interests in mind when setting this interval! I'm certain that the engineers who designed the engine and specified the oil change intervals would freak if they knew AoA says it's fine for 10k intervals on dino oil. Based upon what I've read I don't think any Audi in Germany gets dino ever. Yeah, AoA just wants what is best for you and wants to give you maximum value for your $.

P.S. The tooth fairy will be by your house tomorrow night.
