Default Does anyone know of a place to buy BBS LM outer rims only? I had a little scrape incident on my LM's

and I found it is apparently true that although the LM is a 2 piece wheel it might as well be one piece because it doesn't matter; BBS and it's dealers only have or will sell the wheel as one piece. What the hell is the sense of having a two-piece wheel then? The damage is definitely unrepairable. Anyway, if anyone has a damaged LM center and needs that and has a outer lip in good shape maybe we could trade. My center is perfect. Any suggestions (other than to be more careful) would be greatly appreciated as I would love to not have to buy another wheel. Thanks...

Default Defeats the purpose of a 2 or 3 piece wheel doesn't it?

Understand that according to Tire Rack, OZ (believe it was OZ) has the same policy. I'd be raising holy hell with the company that sold me the wheels if that's the case.

Default Not entirely, weight savings is also a benefit to the design.

But it would be nice if they supplied the outter rim.

But I can see the BBS side of it, and not wanting people to disassemble their wheels and try to put them back together, possibly incorrectly causing problems. It would be bad for a company like that to start having wheel failures and then misinformation as to the cause being dispursed on the internet.

Default BWAHAHAHAHA!!!! 19" LM weighs 24.8, RGR 21.2, other forged: 19-21 typically....

The ONLY reasons for three-piece (other than bling/looks - subjective anyway) are the ability to change-out rim halves for offset, width, or repair.

Any decent one-piece forged wheel will weigh less. I speak from several levels of experience.

I didn't say lightest. They are generally lighter than cast 1 piece wheels of the same size

Default They are generally similar to cast 1 piece wheels of the same size and 1/4 the cost.

They are feeding off of the "Image Marketing" of true racing wheels, which are often Mg center sections and semi-disposable (if you've ever run them, you know why) aluminum rims, fastened together with AN hardware (Ti AN hardware for the ultimate in weight savings).

Great marketing, but on the street it's Image above all. BBS does sell rim halves, but not for street use - there's a liability issue.
