Does the cd player play MP3's in the 04 S4?

Nope. You can play CDR's and most RW's.
I convert the MP3's to standard CD files and they play just fine. MP3 support requires something to decode the format, does not exist on the Audi Radio's.

Uh, I'd still buy one... I may get 2nd one for my RX-8
And I have MP3 cd player built in to that.
There is a *HUGE* difference in having 20-60GB of stuff (all your songs), and having to search for stuff 650MB at a time, and swap cd's.
The second, (and maybe bigger reason), is SSA. I miss the voice prompts and search method of the phatbox when trying to find stuff on the mp3 player in the RX-8. And no, graphical display of the tree structure of directories doesn't significantly help (like what portables have).
