Does the S4 share the same platform with Passat?

My understanding was that the ".5" was added when the front end was changed to accomodate the W8.
I haven't heard the B5.5 used in reference to the A4, just the Passat. I could be wrong, though...

B5 = '98-'01 Passat, B5.5 = '01.5+ ...
No '.5' ref to B5 A4's.
The Passat W8 platform is the same as that of the 1.8T and 2.8. People just started calling the new models "B5.5" an easy way of distinction, since technically all '98+ Passats share the B5 platform.
