the problem you take it in for " the service techs cannot duplicate the problem"? I swear I get this HUMMING noise sometimes when Im making a 3 point turn or U-turn I get that annoying noise. Any of you good folks have any ideas on what causes this little problem?

Did you check your power steering fluid?

Default Yes I get that all the time even thought I KNOW exactly what the

problem is. A humming noise from the pump probably means low pwr steering fluid. Most of us experience an unsettling binding feeling/noise which is just the quattro not liking to be steered closer to its lock limit.

Has anyone gotten this actually FIXED at the dealer, or to they chalk it up as "normal?"

Default a lot of the front end noise people get can be associated with the nature of quattro

from what I understand, at very slow speeds (such as a 3-point or U-turn) the front wheels are spinning at a different rate than the rear wheels. This causes a hum/vibration coming from the front end. It's more noticable on different surfaces than others. You'll get this in a 4x4 truck/SUV too but it is way more pronounced. My Exploder pratically hops when I make a tight, slow turn in 4-wheel drive.

Or I may be crazy...you decide. My PS fluid has never been low and I get this effect EVERY time I take a slow and tight turn.

Quattro. If you are accel or decel the quattro binds...normal. At constant speed it goes away.
