Default Dunlop SP1 Sport VS Michelin PS2

How much better are the Michelin PS2' s over the stock Dunlop SP1 Sports?

Are the Michelins PS2's worth the price of admission?

Thanks

Default Re: Dunlop SP1 Sport VS Michelin PS2

I have not tried the sp1's. Have tried the stock conti's on the S4, Dunlop SP8000, Mich pilots, Kuhmo Ecsta MX, Bridge SO-3, Mich PS2's, and some Yoko's. The PS2's were my favorite of the bunch. I thought the wet traction was the most exceptional thing about them. They seemed really quiet at the limit compared to most of the tires I've used. Are they worth the price?...yes, they will be the next street tire I buy.

Default One of the advantages of the Dunlop...

tire is that it's an Ultra-High Performance All-Season Radial and the Michelin is not.<ul><li><a href="http://www.dunloptire.com/dunlop/display_tire.jsp?prodline=SP+Sport+01&amp;mrktarea =Performance">http://www.dunloptire.com/dunlop/display_tire.jsp?prodline=SP+Sport+01&amp;mrktarea =Performance</a</li></ul>

Default Wrong! The Dunlop SP1 is an ultra performance summer tire. Audi does not put...

all season tires on S and RS cars. The SP1 performance, however, is still far below the Michelin PS2 which, by the way is a max performance summer tire. If you want a reasonably objective review of max performance tires and the reason many of us love the PS2 check this:

Default I'm on my second set of T1-S and love the tire with the exception of the soft sidewall. T1R will...

be out soon if you can wait another month!

Default Sorry, but I am right!

I sell the cars and I've looked it up. The tire is a "Ultra-High Performance All-Season Radial"

Tough to argue with the mfr's own site. But I thought B5S4 was last S4 with AS-UHPs?

Default Read More:

Check the sidewall on the Dunlop SP 01 and show me where the M&amp;S logo appears that signifies an All Season application.

Hereâ€TMs a description for the Dunlop SP 01:
â€oeDunlop's SP Sport 01 and SP Sport 01A tires are Ultra High Performance Summer tires for sports cars, coupes and sedans. Dunlop's SP Sport 01 tires were designed to be multi-talented tires and were initially developed for Original Equipment use by leading automotive manufacturers to complement the latest in vehicle design and construction. They are not intended to be driven in snow.”

A more important point, however, is even if it was an all season tire the original question was asking about the better tire for an S4. There is no all season tire made that will meet Audiâ€TMs standards for handling and performance on an S4. The car is OEM equipped with high performance summer tires and thatâ€TMs why the car is delivered with a liability warning that the car is not to be driven in adverse winter conditions with the OEM tires.
