Just wanted to let you guys know that it really is straight PLUG 'N' PLAY!
Thanks to the help of the guys at the NAV forums (which includes AudiA4B6US and Proxus), I was able to get it installed and working with relative ease! I originally had the Symphony II w/BOSE. Didn't take any pictures of the final result (yet)... as they can be easily found by searching the NAV forums.
With all the right antennas/adapters, everything is easy. Hardest part is removing the DIS cluster to put the GPS antenna behind it (getting 7-8 satellites from that location) and "taking apart" an old connector to fit into a new adapter.
VAG Coding is simple and voila... instant OEM NAV!
I personally went w/the US DVD NAV+ unit (costs a bit more than the Euro DVD NAV+) because:
A) Wouldn't need to modify the US NAV disk to work in the Euro unit (easy to do though)
B) Can still use Satellite radio if I wanted to (though you need to purchase the "new" B7 Sirius/XM receiver)
C) AM stations won't be off
Still hard to get used to operating it, but it looks great and matches the Audi interior.

Otherwise I would not have been able to figure this out! Most of the stuff I've seen didn't give exact step by step stuff or rather general... tho it was fairly easy to figure it out and put everyone's info together when doing my install.
It is mostly common sense... but it's just nice to know what you need to do prior to getting into it!
I dont mind helping out, as I was once in that position too (PM'ing and emailing a lot of people on the NAV boards for info).
I can always take pics... but it would pretty much look like the same pics as the B7's.

This is the write-up for an Allroad, it's very similar in a B6, except you can forget about the speed wire he's talking about:<a href="http://www.navplus.us/forum/viewtopic.php?t=70">Allroad RNS-E</a>
And here are some addtional comments for the B6: <a href="http://www.navplus.us/forum/viewtopic.php?t=239">A4 B6</a>
Lots of more info at <a href="http://www.navplus.us">www.navplus.us</a>

Looking at this, while do-able, it doesn't seem like a quick job. From the look of all the steps mentioned here, this looks like several hours worth of work. Doesn't look very "plug and play." And when you mention the "speed wire", is this the GALA or V wire that he's referring to? V = Velocity?
And, I found a guy in Germany who has an A4 unit (8E0 035 192 C H50 0080) for $1600. This is a used unit although it's date code is 27/08/2004 so it's fairly new. Is it typcial that the EU units on ebay are used? And I don't have the ability to create the DVD necessary to make a US map DVD. Is there someone who does this for people? And lastly, will the Phatbox work with the EU unit?
Thanks much.
