Default Engine Break In

I know this has been extensively covered, but..I'm driving to Chicago this week to pick up my new S4 Cab and will have about a 1000 mile drive back home to Colorado with a new engine. I understand the recommendations about WOT runs, but what should I do on the bulk of the 1000 mile trip? How often should I open up the throttle? Can I safely drive it at a steady 75-80 during those first 1000 miles?

Thanks.

Vary the revs, don't go past 4k. The more you vary, the better.

Default Yes, as long as you frequently shift between 4th , 5th, & 6th gears

The MOST important thing is to vary the RPMS. DO NOT cruise at constant RPM. You need to keep shifting gears. Run the car to 85mph in 4th gear then let it fall back to 60. Then change to 5th gear and do the same, repeat with 6th gear. Thus you will be travelling beyween 60 & 85 mph, but you will not be running at a constant RPM! IT IS VERY IMPORTANT to vary the RPMS!
