Engine Problem

I brought my car into service today at Danbury Audi because I was getting a "Check Engine" light. It turns out that the problem is bigger than they expected and the dealership told me that they have to call in an Audi factory service technician to take apart the motor to see what the problem is. Basically, the dealership doesn't handle "issues" of this magnitude. He says Audi changed their policy on this. As a result, the service technician told me that they may not be able to provide me with my loaner car for much longer. Has anyone encountered this? I assume if the dealership won't give me a loaner, then Audi will give me a loaner or at least remiburse me for a rental car? Does this make any sense? Has anyone experienced this? Any advice in handling this would be appreciated.

There was a discussion recently (see link below) about service loaners which talked about different dealerships and policy. It may be a dealership specific thing. It pays to call all the local dealerships to find out each one's policy regarding them.
