Engine will not crank

It has happened to me three times already. I get in the car for the first time each day and the car will not start. I have to cycle the ignition on and off anywhere from 15 - 20 times. It goes through the check-out but will not crank. I tested to see how low the clutch needs to be depressed to start the engine and it is a couple inches of the floor. It has never left me stranded because I am able to cycle it enough times, but I would like it fixed.
The dealer said that they could do nothing about it because it doesn't cause a CEL.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks

It's just as you described it (cold starts) and for me, the colder the outside temp was, or the longer it sat in the garage, the more often it did it and the more times I'd have to cycle. For some reason, if I tried it a few times, then went in the house for a few minutes and let it sit, when tried again it would usually fire right up. It got progressively worse and the dealership could find no fault. Finally, after keeping it overnight, they were able to experience the problem for themselves. They replaced the starter and it's worked like a champ ever since. I'd search here and AZ for more info but...mine turned out to be the starter. For others, it was a bad ground, clutch switch, or relay.
Good luck and let us know...Steve

they replace everything but the starter and I have probably cost Audi a grand in towing the car to the dealership at least every month.
