Extended warranty: not cover repairs, if suggested maintenance not done?

According to my local dealers, if I do not pay to do what Audi deems as routine maintenance, that extended warranty from a third party will NOT cover any items that break later on. Sounds like b.s. to me. Any thoughts?

definitely get a full copy of your warranty contract. It would be normal for them to stipulate suggested maintenances are performed but that doesnt mean audi has to do it. It just protects them if some one comes in with a popped motor and they havent changed their oil for 50K miles. Audi maintenance intervals are so long anyways i'm sure you've covered them. Most have at least doubled up on the oil changes anyways.

when dealing with 3rd party warranty contracts.
Some coverage is better than others, but all will stipulate you follow recommended maintenance intervals.

but was looking into extended warranty's. I really don't feel like paying the several thousand dollar service fees at higher mileage. so i was trying to figure out if the extended is worth getting. cause if they aren't going to make good on broken items cause i don't pay 3k for 80k service (or whatever it may be), I am not going to get it.

sericing at those intervals but not that Audi be the one to do it. I guess an example would be on the B6 A4 cars that have timing belts. Sure you must get them replaced at 75K miles according to the manual but you should be free to either give Audi $1800 to do it or to give your trusted independent ship $700 to do the same job. As long as it gets done when it is recommended and you keep your documentation.
