Extrude Hone polishing...anyone done it yet?
I searched and found lots of info on the B5 S4 and TT forums, but not much on our board. Seems like an interesting mod if it performs as advertised in our engines.
Prices start getting steep to do intake manifold + exhaust mani + cyllinder heads...so does anyone know which would offer better results in our engines?

When everyone started doing the Extrude Honing on their TT's...

It increased flow, was honed so that the air/fuel mixture was much more balanced in each cylinder. My TT was pretty heavily modded, and the IM was the single best mod I did for my car. It improved throttle response, gave me more torque over a broader range...it was amazing...the thing is, Im not sure it would have been as amazing as it was if I hadnt done all of the other things to the car.
I really dont know what kind of gains it would give the S4...maybe help it breathe better, but I cant see us in the S4 getting the same kind of results we did in the TT. It would be an interesting project, but it wasnt cheap so I would bet on it being double $$ for the S...

No one knows. But the intake is made of a composite..
Most likely Nylon 6 composite which is similar to a plastic. You can't port the intake. The heads can be extrude honed but I'm betting that the gains will be minimal and not worth the effort and expense. These 5 valve heads must produce some pretty substantial air flow in order for a 254 c.i. naturally aspirated V-8 to produce 340 hp.

Thanks for the info...that was mysuspicion as well.
It's a lot of money to spend on such an unknown mod for our cars. It seems like a great mod for the TT though...especially for the already heavily modded cars that are looking for that last bit of untapped potential. Heads and exhaust manifold are $1100+ so I might let someone else be the guinea pig first!

something about anti reversion and fuel mixture.
in most cases you want a rough manifold on an NA car. on an FI you can have polished because the air is turbulent enough.... or something like that

Done it on my old 93 rustang 5 oh.
It increased my torque curve due to better low rpm flow. Because it does not take out that much volume, it did not add too much to higher rpm horse power compared to after market intakes manifolds. Low rpm velocity increases low rpm torque, vs higher volume runners increase high end HP, right?
I agree that it would be intersting to e-hone from intake, head and exhaust. I thought about it but since my car is a lease, I'm not going to void my warranty.
In terms of not polishing an NA engine, I'd do the e-hone deal since it is suppose to make flow even to each cylinder.
