Default Finally got back from the paint shop my Sparco Pro 2000 race seat...

To start here is a pictorial of the seat getting re-assembled before the install. More pictures will follow later for the actual removal of the regular seat and the installation of the Sparco.

High Gloss black paint finish on the fiberglass seat.

Same finish on the aluminum seat brackets.

Same finish on the seat base. Made of aluminum, 1/4 inch thick and 20 x 16 inches. The square cut out is for the wiring harness under the seat in the floor.

Seat rails/sliders.

Aluminum side brackets installed onto the rails.

Finally the seat is mounted into position in the brackets.

Default The end result here will absolutely run circles around our S4's on any track with turns.

The weight distribution of a 1.8 A4 is much closer to balanced to begin with and if he can match us in power (and go waaay past us in suspension/brakes) this will be one very potent package.

I believe it would be safe to say the intent here is not to build a long distance highway touring vehicle :}

Default Talking about highway driving, just drove 360 miles from Norcal to LA. I love how solid our s4 is.

I cruised at 100 as if I were cruising at 65 in another car. So smooth, so solid. I have 11k now, I've made multiple long distance trips, and I still can't get over the feel. I love it.

Jockey, awesome. Can't wait for the end result! (didn't mean to hijack )

Default Not that far off the topic. Jet Jockey's A4 is going to feel far more solid at the same speeds

but the trip you took would be far more comfortable in your car.

When the issue is performance, you have to start making compromises very early on in the modification process for the trade off of high performance vs creature comfort. Our cars are designed for a very delicate balance of the two.

Jet Jockey is building a car that is very specifically aimed at the performance angle and from the looks of it is going to have an incredible toy on hand at the end of the process. I'd give anything for an opportunity to take that critter out for some laps when all these goodies are in place, but I would not like to drive it from the Bay down to LA (or even worse - from Portland down to the Bay for 12+ highway hours).

Incredible track handling or nice long haul road trip manners?
Choose one.

Default Definitely agree. But I was commenting on my stocker. That's the beauty of the b6. Many fail to

appreciate this.

Default Not me - that's why I like it the way it is with my socially unacceptable wheel gap and

a comfortable ride.

I did a lot of suspension mods on my last one and 700+ mile road trips were very painful. It was a blast on the track, but it left me wanting a comfy ride to tow it there with in the end.....

Default btw, not sure if you read my post about my impressions on the last marin county drive I went on...

but I swapped the front and rear wheels today, and it's definitely a lot quieter now on turns. Does the baldness on the edges of the tires create the squealing noise? In any case, I swapped the front and rears for a bit more life...should have done so 5k ago...

Have you rotated? How often? I won't be rotating these stockers anymore...I'll upgrade either the tires alone, or with new wheels the next time (when they're bald)
