First impressions of new Milltek DP. (kinda long, sorry I'm excited!)
WOW! So I had the luxury of first installing the Labree res. CB, and driving like that for a few months. The Labree added some nice sound and seemed to move the torque curve up a little, seemed stronger in the mid-range. It also seemed as though my MPG increased by 1-1 1/2. So I got the new Milltek DP installed a few days ago, first problem was that the Milltek and the Labree pipes (where they meet)do not have the same diameter. I had the install done at Streetwerke, and they took it to a local muffler shop to have the mismatch fixed. They removed the end of each pipe (where they neck down from 2 1/2 to 2 1/4 and used a piece of 2 1/2 to connect the 2, then sleeve clamps with paste were used to seal it up. This might have accually added a few ponies since it is 2 1/2 straight through without the 2 1/4 inch restriction. I've headrd people say on this forum that the CB is for sound and the DP is for power. I noticed power and sound changes from both components. It is alot louder now with the DP installed, it made a dramatic differance in the tone and loudness. I've only had a few chances to WOT to redline, but it definatly pulls much harder in the mid and reachs redline much quicker. Since I have TIP I also noticed another thing, in S mode it is much more driveable in traffic, not so twitchy. Overall very happy with the sound and power gains from this setup.
