First oil change on '04- synthetic?
Car needs to go in for first 5K service- dealer says they only put synthetic in the older bi-turbo S4's. Is that correct? Will I need to take in my own Mobil One if I want synthetic and don't want to pay their prices?? I'd just do it at home but I'll let them deal with the old oil...

Funny thing is that some dealer provide synthetic as the standard oil and others do not. BTW '05s
are supposed to be ONLY synthetic. I suggest thst you call some other dealerships, if there are any others in your area, to see what they are using and go to a dealer offering N/C synthetic. If that doesen't work, Buy 10 qts of synthetic (make sure it is on the Audi list of approved oils) and have them use your oil. Either way, make sure the oil level is full before you leave. It is common for them to leave the oil level underfilled!

Same experience ...
brought my 04 in for its first service last Tuesday. Service advisor stated that only 05's get synthetic. Fortunately, I brought 10 quarts of Valvoline Synpower 5w40 just in case.
