Anyone knows is it possible to change gear shifting points/limits (the maximum speed at which you have to change gear)?
My RS4 has limitator for second gear on 130 kmh, almost 200 for third, but s4 only 110 for second 160 for third?
What has to be changed to overcome this limitATION and imrove acceleration?
Thanx in advance

I think the rev limiter cuts in around 7200 rpm. You'd have to raise the limiter or remove it on order to increase the speed allowed in each gear. I hope that's what you mean...

as long as I remember in the Porsche world RUF offers two types of the cars with longer gears and with shorter it translates at least into to speed RUF 911 TURBO standard allows to go to 330kmh, longer gear ratio version to 350.
And as long as I remember RS4 did not go to 9K and it had 2.7 biturbo....

Us in the states get a shorter 6th gear. I think the euro trannies are longer in most gears. You'd need it especially on the autobahn.

If both cars have the same redline, the determining factors are the transmissions internal gear ratios and the final drive ratio. These gear ratios would have to be altered to give the same RPM/MPH for different cars.Improving acceleration usually involves a higher ratio final drive. The result is quicker acceleration and lower speeds in each gear at the redline. Higher speeds in each gear involve lower gear ratios which has an adverse effect on acceleration. In your case, you pretty much can't get what you want.

strange....I compare two Audies....
for example in Audi TT world there are two transmissions 5speed and 6speed 5speed allows to do 0-60mpd on second, six-speed doesn't.....
but RS4 and S4 i suppose use the same transmission only RS4 one was tuned by Quattro GMbh but S4 uses Audi standard (price for exlusivity???). In my opinion I am not a tech guru the difference is in part that costs two cents....

Taking the car apart to change ratios in the transmission and/or differential would be many
thousands of dollars. Look at the specs for a 5 speed vs 6 speed Audi transmission and differential. It will become clear why they don't allow the same speed at redline in each gear.
