glovebox door warranty problem.
ok. so my car is under warranty and has had the glovebox door replaced before because it would not close. a few months pass and one day i go to open the door and the bottom right hinge breaks.
i take it to the dealer and he says that they will need to remove the entire door assembly and inspect the hinge mechanism. if the strut is "frozen" audi will pay for the replacement door. if it is not "frozen" audi will not and i'll have to pay 450 bucks for a new door.
WTF???????

Tell them that's complete BS. If that is exactly what they said per verbatim then they need to...
go to Customer Appreciation School...
First of all, didn't you just say they replaced the door? So the fnck heads that worked on it last, fncked it up. That's the angle I would take.
Them getting in your face w/the $450 threat is pure BS. Don't accept it.
Even if it was your own fault or you did break it (hopefully you didn't sit on it)...
Doesn't matter, the Gbox is defective and is covered under warranty.

I'm personally not a big fan of the glove box. Mine doesn't open very well....
you can release the latch, and it drops down about 1/4 of an inch, and will sit there. You have to pull it down to open it all the way, and even then, it's really stiff. Dealer told me this was normal. I accepted their answer, but told them if that is the case, it was a crap design. I haven't had the chance to compare it to others, does everyone else's glove box open in this manner? Or do they actually open all the way without you pulling down on them?

the best glove box I've ever owned in a car
was on my 2000 A4 avant. It was counter weighted, heavy, and closed so solid that it would feel as though you were closing a vault on a swiss bank. It NEVER poped open like mine on the S4.
