Default Going to test drive '06 S4 on 9/11..

Hi All!

I'm looking to pickup an '06 S4 from a dealership down on Long Island in a few weeks. I'll be down that way on 9/11 to take it for a test drive.
Here's the link to the vehicle: <http://www.biener.com/used_vehicle_details.htm?vehicleId=b03da7a97f00000 100964823117ddeb0>

Last Audi I owned was a '96 A4 FronTrac three years ago. My current ride, an '06 VW Passat 3.6L's lease is expiring on Oct. 20th.

Any recommendations on what I should be looking for on this vehicle as far as problem areas? I'm hoping I can chisel then down on the price a bit. It was on eBay and didn't sell. Hoping 29k??

Thanks in advance..

hope it went well

the B7 S4 was the second gen of the B6 S4, and it had lots of the kinks ironed out. I can't think of anything people routinely complain about, other than the glovebox being too hard to close!

make sure you get MT6...comes with the upgraded Torsen T3 differential from the RS4, and that changes the drive dramatically. Plus the AT6 tranny in these cars eats a chunk of power (about 20-30whp), and with the weight of these cars, and the difficulty modding them for similar gains, that's 20-30whp that we can ill afford to lose!

What? I LOVE the glovebox. You can cram so much stuff in there, even with the iPod box taking up a bit of space.

Not a lot of reliability data out on the B7 S4 yet. Check out this thread: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/sho....php?t=2665348 for more information. Regardless of what you get, sign up!

Hey Calvyn,

So did you end up getting it? I'm looking at an 06 as well with about 31k miles. They're asking $31,900 - which I told the guy was rather high - and of course he replies that's just a starting point. duh. I'm hoping for $29k as well, although it is a CPO.

Nope. No trouble spots to look for. The only somewhat common issue that I recall being reported is with flickering headlights. Otherwise, great car.

Eric.
