not sure, i've had two replaced under warranty though. it's a bad design.

I don't know how much it costs, but I'd try to get it replaced under warrenty

Just tell them what happened and that you only punched it one time. You'd think it could withstand a single punch. Tell them you once punched a cup holder in a BMW and it was fine. Especially if they're married, they'll understand.
