ok, i just got my nav unit today and plugged it in to try it out, I have NOT vagged it yet but I am having a few problems that might not be related to that and some that are, if you could please give me some suggestions:
ok, my car is an 04 S4 with bose, Onstar and factory nav (the non-screen type, controller in console)
i plugged in the rns-e in and put the satellite receiver behind the dash
the dash does not display radio or nav info at all --- should be fixed by vag?
The nav will only get up to about 4 satellites even in a wide open area and will not update my position, it did get my position but does not update when i drive the car
Onstar does not work--- thinking this is a vag issue
ok, now i have an install question, it came with the adapter for the antenna to convert the figure eight shaped plug on the headunit to the fm antenna plug... now the other hole in that plug... i put what i think is the gala plug into it (took the wire out of the square factory plug) should i have done this or no? thanks in advance for any help, suggestions
one more thing, where is the cheapest place to buy the sirius tuner? claireparts?
I did post this on the navplus.us forum, just wanted to see if anyone here had similar issues... also is there anyone in the philly area I could compare wiring adapters with? the not powering off thing makes me think the adapter is wired incorrectly..

I have an '05 with Bose & factory Nav -- No OnStar (realized how worthless that is w/ my '02 A4 3.0!)...
* Got my Sirius receiver from the dealer...it was $250 or $350, IIRC. At the time, I think Clairparts was selling for $499? Was shocked that my dealer was cheaper by a lot.
* My DIS started showing the nav directions right away...have you pressed the reset button on the bottom of the wiper stalk to rotate through the different screens?
* I received 9 satellites the other day; sometimes I only have 4-5. If you're in a parking garage or even a regular garage, you need to give the system a few minutes to figure out where it's at.

i tried the reset thing, still no directions on the DIS, i ran through all of the wires on the adapter and it is wired correctly, my nav is still not updating, i tried holding the power button on the nav unit to have it reset and still no luck, it does get my position every like 5 minutes or so but that is it, i'm hoping its just conflicting with the stock nav system, i'm going to unplug the stock nav tonight and see if that does it... also its still not shutting off when i turn the car off

and then it'll take a few moments before it starts to show up (turn the car off and leave alone for like 15-30min). At least it was for me in this case.
As for the satellites, you may need to re-position your GPS antenna to get a better reception.
