First run was from about 50 to 100. I was following and he blipped the throttle a few times waiting for a car to move right. When traffic cleared he punched and moved right but I think maybe I got the jump and/or he didn't drop into a sweet spot gear wise; he was full throttle though. I passed him fairly easy (about how we would walk a previous gen mustang gt). I let up and slowly slowed and soon was 1/4mi or so ahead. A few moments later I look in the rearview and he's coming hard and flies by me (I didn't go, there would have been no way anyway). Another mile later he gets caught up on two cars side by side so I creep up again. Next two runs were also around 45mph but we went to about 120 both times, or however fast a few seconds into 5th gear is. Traffic cleared and we both punched it. I was directly behind him, about a car length back at start) I went into the right lane and eventually gained... a little, I was just about to his rear bumper when he let up but I was suprised how well his car held on. It wasn't until about 100 that I think I started reeling him in... slowly. So overall very close between us. It (the GTO) being an AT4 2004 suprised me how well he could hang. Perhaps the 50-100 speed in the AT4 tranny was its ideal situation for our run and its best range for showing off its quickness. Off the line I think I would have had him every time but from 40/50 to 100 or so it was just about even.
