Default Hardwiring V1 Radar, What fuse?

Got my new radar and I am going to hardwire it to the car. I know people have done it on the board and I wanted to know what fuse/power line have people been splicing into? TIA

Default STFA for number, but I believe the wiper fuse is most common. There was also a post...

of someone who connected it to the rearview mirror. I used the wiper fuse and ran in behind my dash to the lower middle of the windshield. I have an 8500 and didn't feel it worked well (hid buttons, etc.) when placed to the left of the rearview mirror. To the right of the mirror was too far out of my line of vision, so bottom center (left) was my choice. Don't put it right in the middle since it will block the sun sensor which adjusts A/C controls based upon sunlight.

If you haven't purchased already, I might wait for the Lidatek built-in radar which works through the car's dash computer, and is therefore completely invisible.

Default Did you have to take the trim off...

to run the wire from the fusebox up to the windshield top (assuming you've mounted V1 at the top of the windshield)?

Also, did you use V1 hard-wire modue, or just spliced the wire straight with the phone cable? If former, where did you locate the hard-wire module?

TIA!

Default AFAIK, Lidatek doesn't have radar detection, only laser.

Default I mounted it behind wind shield stickers on the left bottom dash

Then ran the "phone cable in the crack to the side of the fuse cover. Bought a Radio Shack lighter receptacle to pig tail convert, plugged in the V1 behind the fuses, secured it with a tie wrap and ran the wire to the WW fuse right side -- found a ground and in 10 min or less I'm working. For my purpose the V1 works fine in all quadrants at that location. maybe it would be a little more sensitive on top but I didn't care -- it saves me regularly. I have donethis now for the last 5 years... No tickets.
I do things simple when I can.

Who was it that was developing the built in radar for the S4? They were advertising one for M3.

Default Are you referring to StealthOne?

I e-mailed them today asking if they had any plans for Audi in general and B6 S4 in particular.

The reply: "Not at this time, but we are looking into it, we do not have a schedule for it yet."<ul><li><a href="http://www.jaricdesign.com/products.htm">StealthOne</a></li></ul>
