It does work, just read the manual carefully

Couldn't get it to work following the instructions in the manual. Had to get the actual garage door manual and use the instructions there to teach the remote inside the car.
However I first did have to do what the car manual said to do, I guess that "initialized" the remote button inside the car. Then I went to the garage door opener in the garage, and pressed the button combination while pressing the opener button that I wanted to use inside the car (per the instructions in my garage door manual).
Once I did this it worked.
