Has anyone purchased or heard of someone using the Superchips or Powerchip chips?

Only back in my Lightning days.
I didn't use them personally, but knew plenty of people that did. Unless you have a tuner locally, I would not recommend them. Tune-by-mail is a major PITA.

I have just learned this the hard way.
However, there is a local shop that does SCT tuning and has the SW for my (low HP) car. I got a pretty good mid-range pop (peak gain of about 12 lb. ft. of TQ and an equivalent gain in HP at 4200 to 5200 RPM) and better overall power delivery (according to a dyno comparison). However, I've lost some low-speed/idle smoothness (under 2000 RPM). Fine tuning that is where I'm finding it's going to be handy having a local guy.
