Default has anyone thought of trading down to a b5 , how is the b5, does it feel brittle..

I need more power, I know the B5 platform allows plentiful gains with not too much input..but everyone says the b6 b7 platform is such an improvement over the b5 , in general feel and countless other little things

Does anyone understand my angle? I love turbos, but is the B5 jsut not as satisfying as the b6, interior etc?

b5 is a "step back" in technology/design, rattles and squeeks, but it DOES go like stink. : )

Default The B5's ride is a huge step backward compared to the B6; however, the 2.7T is still a gem.

I can understand the appeal. If you just want something you can mod for little money, get an STi or Evo. Ride is equally bad (worse, actually), but they are more fun than a B5, IMO. The complexity of their AWD systems really gives them another level of accessable performance compared to Torsen quattro.

Default I've yet to be in one that rattles and squeeks... unless something is wrong. Proper maintenence is

required.

I think you've already answered your question with your last statement.

Default It's an observation that I have. b5's aren't.....

tight like a b6, plain and simple. I've been in my old b5 S4 at 46K miles and it is NOT nearly as sound as my b6...again a personal observation. Proper maintenance cannot overcome engineering deficiencies. : )
