Heel and toe in the s4....Alan por favor :D

I really like skate shoes, generally.
They have a wide toebox which makes it easy to hit both pedals and they come in a wide variety of sole thicknesses so you can always find a fit that works. I don't skate much any more, so my skate shoes seem to see more time as my driving shoes. Oh well. Nomex lining is pretty low on my priority list, given how unlikely a fire is in a street driven Audi/BMW etc.
Adidas is making a driving shoe now that looks pretty comfy. I keep meaning to try a pair on but haven't had the chance yet.

If you find the distance is too great even after some practice, you can always get

After trying to get really good at heal/toe in my A4, I bought a set of Sparco pedal covers with a reversed "L" shaped tab on the gas pedal. I then played around with location using double sided tape until I figured out just where they were comfortable, and then I mounted them perfectly for my personal style. Now it's super super easy for me to heal/toe and I find myself doing it on every downshift without even thinking. This picture doesn't show my gas pedal, but bascially the gas pedal is the exact same shape but just slightly elongated. Something for you to keep in mind...

Ok, so I'm getting down Alan's ball of foot on the gas, edge on the brake
I'm amazed how quickly I've adapted...wish I had wider feet though.
The only problem I stil tend to have is that I tend to press more firmly on the brake when I blip the throttle with the edge of my foot. So I often come up a bit short on the corner and slow down a bit too much.
Other than that, I'm definitely getting it down rather quickly. Thanks fellas.

Umm - neat trick - did you mean ball of foot on brake and edge on the gas? :)
Glad to hear it's working. For what it's worth the stage you are at is something you have to readjust to each time you get a new car given the height of brake engagement and the throttle.
