Help a brother out, Suspension Question
<center><img src="http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e310/turbello/1435753_5.jpg"></center><p>
I bought the car late last summer and am itching to do suspension and chip to get this car where I want it. Problem is I'm trying to save for a house and every buck counts for me right now. Has anyone had experience with H&R springs on stock struts/shocks? My buddy has this set up and the ride is nice, maybe a little low for my taste but economical. I've been told and am worried about the shocks blowing out with lower springs since there is already 37K on em and it would end up costing me what coilovers run.
Any experience with sport springs and stock struts? Issues that could cost me more in the long run?

25k on mine & struts/shocks are fine. Stramosphere redesigned the lowered springs..
springs and made the front end drop less aggressive. It is the more inexpensive way to go but if i had to do again i'd do shocks/strut replacements, most likely bilsteins. CO's, IMO, are overkill since i dont track the car...just hit corners when i get the chance, and these do fine for me. However, CO pricing has dropped over the years, if you do them H&R apparently has a lightweight set available. The oem struts do rebound funny at high speeds on big dips - thats pretty much it. I did inspect the suspension for leaks last month b/c driver side is a 1/4 inch lower but it appears to be the lower perch pad below the coil slightly off - arg! The prev generation s were terrible from what i hear. Nice ride BTW!!!

Re: The strats are cheap, I could have them installed 4 $400....
I don't track either, do hard corners occasionally but roads suck around here so it's not really safe hitting on ramps at 80.
So you wouldn't do it again?

ramp @ 80???? ur crazy man : )
roads kinda blow in va too but there are also a lot of new ramps that i just drive round n round on. anyways, i would do again but w/aftermarket shocks/struts. I got the coils for 180 and install/alignment w/neg camber for 375 total! Couldnt pass it up plus selling used co's seems pretty darn hard. If i had to reverse the car it would be easy and total loss would be minimal

You don't need a track to benefit w/ C/O. They're vastly improved over springs/shocks on the street
You get both a smoother ride and better handling with coilovers. Springs/shocks make for a terrible ride. C/O's being limited to track use is a misnomer. Maybe the extra expense for STaSIS would only be necessary at the track, but the Bilsteins PSS9's or H&R's, for example, are amazing for street use.
Springs and shocks ruin the ride for the sake of lowering. I'd rather run stock and at least keep the ride quality. C/O's firm up the handling and lower the car, but not at the expense of ride quality.
Springs/shocks is a big skip. Been there, done that. Learned my lesson.
