I posted my own dilemma on this recently: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/sho...s#post24457134
Granted, the problem sounds different. I can pull the fuse for the fan from the fuse panel and the fan will go off. If looking straight at it from outside the car, it's in the second column from the left, second fuse down (5 amp). Thanks to whoever suggested that in this post! After taking it to my mechanic, it was fine for about a week and came back. I think the lower fan switch is bad after my wife drove through some minir flooding.

I had the same problem with my Audi A4 2001, the fan started after I switched off the car and the battery run down.
My relays was good .
I found the problem in my car, it came from some broken cables in the Driver's door.
There are a data cable which probably send some fake impulse and the fan started.
I changed the cables 3 months ago and don't have any problems after that!
I hope it helps to others.

My AC just quit working - used a scanner and found code 18080 - Coolant Fan Control 1. Open or Short to Ground. Could this fan control module be causing the AC to fail? Is this ccode for the Left or Right Module? This is on a 2004 S4 Cabriolet.

I would like to see an answer to this as well. My AC stopped working also around the same time I got the coolant fan code/fan kept running. I tried the relay but didnt help anything.

I checked under the hood with the engine running, hear a loud rattle - hope I didn't lose the compressor - the noise is coming from under that part of the engine where it is supposed to be located - paid $10k to replace the engine 2 1/2 years ago and really don't want to spend another $2k to replace the compressor

18080 - Coolant Fan Control 1: Open or Short to Ground
P1672 - 004 - No Signal/Communication
18308 - Coolant Fan Control 2: Open or Short to Ground
P1900 - 004 - Please Register/Activate
My fans keep running and killing my battery, I already changed the Fan control Module and checked the ECU box/Relay, everything seemed as it should and relay clicked when hooked to power.
