Help Needed regarding Chipped cars...
Hey guys,
I'm not sure if some of you remember my post from a while back, but to make a long story short I had purchased my car used and the previous owner had done some modifications to the car. Well I had to take a trip to the dealer today to pick up a shift **** that they had ordered me under warranty. I wound up having to drive the car around back to meet up w/ one of the service guys so he could pull the old **** off and replace it w/ the new one. To my pleasant suprise the service rep was an audi enthusiast and he had known the previous owner of my car. He informed me that the previous owner had installed a full milltek exhaust (I was only aware it had cat-back), h-sport sways (which I already knew), the car once had H&R co's (but no longer) and lastly he told me that my car was chipped. Pretty nice surprise. Here's my question...
How can I make sure my car is chipped? And how do I find out if it is on or off? I really know very little about chipping, I do know that there are 3 chips out there that are available, APR, Giac and Revo, is there a way I can find out which one I have?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks Joe.

Re: Help Needed regarding Chipped cars...
I encountered similar situation last year. I bought the car used from dealer in PA. I believe it was ESFO that told me he knew the previous owner of this car and informed me that the car has AWE CB, chip, and some other mods purchased from AWE.
Fortunately, I only live 15 miles away from AWE. So I just took the car there and had them plug the GIAC flashloader switcher into the diagonis port underneath the steering wheel to figure out if I have the GIAC chip and what programs have been preloaded. Lucky for me, the previous owner had bought all the programs, and all I had to do just buy the handheld GIAC switcher for around $150.
Ask around on the forum, if you are lucky, someone may know who the previous owner is. Or depending where you live you can always take your car to the authorized dealer of those chip manufaturers

Thanks...I'm gonna try to look at the ecu to find out, i'm figuring that is my best bet.
I only know of one place around here that installs chips, and that is a local audi dealership, but I believe they only install the GIAC so I'm not even sure if they can check for the others.

Re: If you have it the rev limiter is moved. Go out and run the engine past 7k...
Do all the chips/flash programs have the rev limit at 7500? When I bought the car last month when I was home, I revved out my motor to 7500 and it was bouncing off the limiter at 7550-7600.
