Default HELP.Timing issues - S4 needing chain tensioner replacement ?UGHHHHHHHHH

Here is the VAG codes:
Reached (Over-Advanced)
P0021 - 008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0300 - 008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
16689 - Cylinder 5: Misfire Detected
P0305 - 008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
16690 - Cylinder 6: Misfire Detected
P0306 - 008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
16692 - Cylinder 8: Misfire Detected
P0308 - 008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
17537 - Fuel Trim; Bank 2 (Mult): System too Rich
P1129 - 002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - Intermittent

Basically car was running rough, connected the vag and could not clear the codes without coming back. Took it to dealer and they tell me "worse case" it needs tensioner, channels and adjusters.

They will not know until they pull the engine how many of the above parts need replacing.

Sure I have 65k miles, but so what! I Baby this car, synthetic oil all the time.

I know there have been other misfire / timing problems similiar to above codes.

If anyone has any help to offer, or has a similar problems PLEASE email me. I have never dealt with AOA so any help / tips how to go about this would be great.

I will be calling AOA today and see what they can do for me.

My build date was 11/03, so it is not an early build

I still cannot believe it.

I am short on time today (sick kid) so I can reply to anyone most likely tomorrow.

Peace

Default Another reason that I would not keep this car longer than the warranty period . OR

if you do, it would be wise to buy an extended warranty.

Default your only hope is to quote the maintenance schedule for replacement..

If I remember correctly, the TT maintenance called for timing chain replacement at 100,000 miles. However, they rarely lasted to 100,000. To be sure, Audi knew this, and stuck you for timing chain replacement. I would see if this is the same deal with the tensioners. That is, when do they quote replacment, and if not, how soon do they go. You then could hit them with they knew what the situation was..

Default Did the TT have a timing belt or timing chain?

Big difference there....

Default Timing Chain should never need to be replaced.....

tensioners are another story. The manual says chain replacement at 85k miles, but its really just tensioner adjustment or replacement.

Default Sorry for your problem, but other owners might learn from your situation.

I previously advocated getting an extended warranty for this car and other Audis as well, based on my experience with my daughters TT and the electrical gremlins that have haunted that car. This S4 has a VERY expensive engine that has not been without problems. Plus the idea of having to replace the timing chain and/or all the parts related has got to be a big expense at &5K miles as recommended by Audi.
