Default High Gas prices and a few observations....

Last week at this time 93 premium was going for $2.39-2.59 a gallon here in Charlotte NC hit a high of $3.69 on Monday if you could get it. Some stations had been trying to sell gas for $4.19 a gallon? Out of 234 stations in the area more than 100 were completely out and closed, reminded me of the 70's gas crisis the others were getting refilled but far less than they needed and only one grade. No station I drove by had all three gades available, I gat stuck with 87 for $3.29 and have found out that my city milage avg went up 4mpg eventhough I still step on it hard at every opportunity? Used to get 9.8-11.2mpg in the city now close to 15mpg with most around 12.7-13.2mpg. Will try one more tank of 87 to see if it stays high or was just a fluke.

Spent Monday detailing my Avant and yesterday couldn't get away from all the great comments and thumbs up. A women in a TT cabrio rolled her window down and said how much she loved my car, a dude on a ricer bike was reving behind me and I let him hear the full sound off my fullback exhaust, nuff said! Kept looking at my car everytime I stepped on it, finally a big Thumbs up from an M3 cabrio driver who had to work hard to close up on me and pull alongside to compliment my car. Was a Good day!

Default Gas smas, I think we can all afford a stiff gas bill or we would'nt of bought these beasts. I love

my avant and I've only had it since July.
I foresee myself keeping this car for a looong time. :0)

Default Funny how such a small motor can use fuel like a bigger engine.

Must be the weight of the car.

Default Since i've been trying to go easy on the fuel econ I get about 18-19mpg around town....

1st, 3rd, 5th, 6th then cruise control at 35mph in 6th. Yea its doable..... The only way to get good fuel economy is to not step on it. Of course then my friend Melissa wanted to see what the S could do around her town, needless to say it was back down to 8mpg for a 4 mile trip.... :-P

If the engine was bogging, wouldn't it use MORE gas then less?
