ambulances and other mergency vehicles have ONLY red in CA. Cali Veh Code (CVC) 21808 says " Upon the immediate approach of an authorized emergency
vehicle which is sounding a siren and which has at least one lighted lamp exhibiting red light that is visible.....the surrounding traffic shall.....yield the right-of-way and shall immediately drive to the right-hand edge or curb of the highway,clear of any intersection, and thereupon shall stop and remain
stopped until the authorized emergency vehicle has passed." CVC 21055 allows emeergency vehicles to have red lights. CVC 25258 allows ONLY peace officers to have BLUE lights as authorized by the Penal code. so it is the BLE light them gives them the authority to stop and detain you. A red light according to CVC means pull over and let them go by.
the red light stands out so much you probably didnt notice the blue.

Only peace officers as authorized in the penal code according to CVC can have blue light - you probably didnt notice the blue- they will flash both and the red stands out much more. should you keep going? i am not a attorney - if its a marked car -no, if it is unmarked or a honda civic at may not unles they convince me otherwise......badge and uniform etc.
