I would have hoped they had figured it out by now.

Look at this tech article. Towards the end is a section on positioning the CAN bus. Check to see if yours is in the right location. If it is, check in the trunk to see if the receiver was installed. If you ordered you car with xm, your dealer is supposed to activate it for you at no additional charge. And you are also supposed to get 3 months free service. It's time to give your dealer a piece of your mind.
